SUPPORT – PROPOSED SHORT TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE CF #14-1635-S2

Last Friday we shared the good news that the City of Los Angeles released its draft short-term rental ordinance.
And as you know, we are happy with what we have seen.

This first draft addressed a number of key items that Keep Neighborhoods First and our allies have been fighting for. We are thrilled that the ordinance holds the rental platforms accountable; curtails commercial operators by finding a way to identify primary residences; and most importantly, protects our vital affordable housing and RSO ordinance.

In the next 2 months, we can expect to hear a lot from Airbnb and the other platforms. They will be working to change the ordinance before it is considered and adopted by the City Council.

It is important that we take the time to let Councilmembers Mike Bonin and Herb Wesson and the Planning Department know how much we appreciate and support the draft home-sharing ordinance.
