CAIR Action Alert: Contact Your Elected Representatives About Jerusalem
The Council on American Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization,as part of a wide coalition of Jewish, Christian and other American interfaith groups, is calling on all Americans to urge their elected representatives in Congress to denounce President Trump’s plan to recognize, on behalf of the United States, Jerusalem the capital of Israel or move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv.

Trump’s actions will alter previous decades of U.S. policy on the holy city by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, a move that could harm America’s role the Mideast peace process. CAIR believes that the U.S. must strive to maintain a status of impartiality as it seeks to find a peaceful resolution between Israeli and Palestinian leaders and their peoples.
Such a recognition would also alienate the U.S. from its allies in the Middle East, the Muslim world, and those nations and people who have awoken to the injustice of Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian lands, including Jerusalem.
“Congress should do everything within their power to denounce this reckless designation and must work to prevent U.S. tax dollars from going towards moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
La misión de CAIR es mejorar la comprensión del Islam, fomentar el diálogo, proteger las libertades civiles, capacitar a los musulmanes estadounidenses, y construir coaliciones que promuevan la justicia y la comprensión mutua.
