Include ongoing $4 million budget line for Catskills Park
Dear Senators Flanagan and Seward, As the New York State Senate works on its budget for 2016 I urge you to increase the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) as proposed by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Furthermore, I ask that within the EPF it includes an ongoing budget line of $4 million for the Catskill Park and Forest Preserves. This funding is necessary to maintain and enhance the environmental and recreational well-being of our magnificent Catskill Park and Forest Preserve. These 700,000 acres form one of the largest natural areas in the East; its forested mountains, winding valleys and rushing streams and rivers provide a haven for wildlife and an attraction for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Thank you for seeing that your budget includes the $4 million ongoing line to give the Catskill Park and Forest Preserves the support it needs to continue as an icon of our natural heritage. Sincerely,
