Protect Your Health and Keep Access to Health Insurance!
Do Not Repeal the ACA Without First Protecting Patients As someone living with and managing a chronic condition, I urge you to vote against Graham-Cassidy, as it will reduce access to health insurance and remove patient protections for people like me. The ACA guarantees that people with chronic conditions like asthma and allergies have access to affordable health insurance, and Congress could take this away. Our nation risks going back to a time when people with chronic conditions like asthma and allergies could be denied health insurance or forced to pay outrageous premiums or dropped from coverage just when they need it most. Asthma and allergies affect around 60 million Americans. When these conditions are not managed well, there is a big economic cost - asthma is one of the most common reasons people miss work or school. The annual cost of asthma in the U.S. is $56 billion. If people don't have access to sufficient health care, they utilize emergency departments more. This is not the best way to manage and prevent flare ups of a chronic condition. We need your help now. As you consider your position on this bill, please consider how it will impact constituents like me who need access to care. It is time for Congress to come together, work across the aisle, and fix issues with the ACA. Please do not repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act until there is a better bill that protects pre-existing conditions and those on Medicaid.
This message will be sent to Senators in the U.S. Congress.
