IMPORTANT WORD FROM YOUR CONSTITUENT: Time For Positive Steps in 2018
As your constituent, I want you to know that progressive polices will strangle the Ocean State. I urge you to resist supporting ideas that will further deteriorate Rhode Island's sub-par business climate. After passing policies last year that further raised costs to hire employees, increased energy rates, and intruded on employers rights by telling them how to handle employee time off it is imperative that we reverse the anti-business trend in our state. With multiple national indexes highlighting that Rhode Island's businesses climate is far from ideal, many of our state's job- producers face a tipping-point, whereby further employer burdens could threaten their capacity to maintain a profitable business. As your constituent, I reject the anti-employer, anti-growth agenda of progressive-Democrats in the General Assembly; elitists who believe they know what s best for the private sector. Given persistent budget deficits, seeking new revenue streams from businesses and families as a solution, in lieu of cutting unnecessary spending, will only create a further drag on small businesses. According to a 2017 report from the Rhode Island Center for Freedom & Prosperity, legislation submitted by the progressive-left would cost over $6 BILLION to state businesses, taxpayers, and ratepayers. Rhode Island simply cannot afford to place more burdens on the private sector. Rhode Island must regain its competitiveness by becoming a more business-friendly state - where more and better companies create more and better jobs, so that more people can enjoy a better quality of life. This must be the goal of the upcoming legislative session. Therefore, I would like to see initial positive steps taken in 2018 to demonstrate to the business community that lawmakers hear their concerns. We must seek to increase Rhode Island's tax base via policies that attract people and businesses to our state... not drive them away. Thank you.
